Chorey — Terms of Service
Effective date: 2 July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Luka Kapetanovic, an individual developer based in Serbia and the maker of the Chorey app and chorey.co ("Chorey", "we", "us"). By creating an account, subscribing, or using Chorey, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. What Chorey is — and what it is not
Chorey is a family chore and allowance tracker. When a chore is approved, the reward is recorded in a virtual ledger split across three buckets — Spend, Savings, and Giving (40/40/20 by default; parents can adjust the split, with a minimum of 10% to Giving).
Chorey balances are not money. They are a family record-keeping tool only:
- Balances are not funds, deposits, stored value, credit, or any obligation of Chorey. No real money is ever held, transmitted, processed, or paid out by Chorey.
- Chorey is not a bank, money transmitter, money services business, e-money issuer, or payment processor, and is not licensed as any of these.
- Whether, when, and how a child is actually paid is entirely the parent's decision, made outside the app.
- Nothing in Chorey is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
2. The Giving bucket
The Giving bucket is a teaching tool. Chorey does not collect, hold, or transmit donations, is not affiliated with or endorsed by any charity, does not verify the causes suggested or approved in the app, and does not issue tax receipts. Any actual donation is made by your family, outside the app.
3. Who may use Chorey
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account or subscribe.
- You must be the parent or legal guardian of every child you add to your household, and you confirm this each time you add a child.
- Children do not have accounts and are not parties to these Terms. Children use Chorey only through an access code you generate and give them, on devices you control. You are responsible for supervising your children's use of Chorey and for keeping access codes within your family.
4. Your subscription
- Chorey offers auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly or annual) covering your whole household. Billing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your payment details.
- New households get a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the plan you selected starts and renews automatically at the price shown in the store until you cancel.
- The current price is always shown in the app and confirmed by the store before any charge. Prices may vary by region and may change for future renewal periods, with notice through the store.
- Cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If your subscription lapses, your family's data stays saved and readable; creating and approving chores and reminders pause until you resubscribe.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, your statutory withdrawal rights are exercised through the store's refund process.
5. Your content
Chorey stores content your family creates: chore names and notes, wishlist items and notes, suggested giving causes, avatars, and chore-completion photos ("Family Content"). Family Content is private to your household — it is never public.
- You keep ownership of Family Content. You grant us the limited license needed to host, store, display, and transmit it within your household to run the service.
- You are responsible for what your household posts, and you agree not to upload unlawful content. As the parent, you moderate your own household and can edit or delete Family Content at any time. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.
- Chore photos are automatically deleted 30 days after upload.
6. Your account
Keep your sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email) secure — you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deletion permanently removes your household: every child profile, chore, balance, access code, photo, and avatar. If you are a co-parent in someone else's household, deleting your account removes you without deleting that household.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Chorey: no reverse engineering except where the law permits it, no scraping, no attempting to access other households' data, no reselling the service, and no use that violates applicable law.
8. Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded Chorey from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app itself, supplemented by these Terms. You and we acknowledge that: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance, support, warranties, or to address any claims relating to the app; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
9. Disclaimers
Chorey is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-interruption. We do not warrant that ledger records are error-free; parents should treat Chorey as a helpful record, not an authoritative account.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits. Our total liability for all claims relating to Chorey is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Consumer carve-out: nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, guarantee, or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of the country where you live (including EU, UK, and Australian consumer law), and nothing limits our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
11. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by the law of your country, you will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your violation of these Terms or your Family Content, except to the extent caused by us.
12. Disputes — United States residents only
If you live in the United States, you and we agree to resolve disputes by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, and you waive the right to participate in a class action. Small-claims court remains available for qualifying claims. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing contact@twobricklabs.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with the subject "Arbitration opt-out". If you live outside the United States, this section does not apply to you.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, and disputes not covered by Section 12 belong to the courts of Belgrade, Serbia. If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or another country whose law gives you mandatory protections or the right to sue at home, you keep those protections and that right — nothing in this section takes them away.
14. Termination
You can stop using Chorey and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the law, with notice where required. Sections 1, 2, 9–13, and 15 survive termination.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Chorey evolves. For material changes we will give you notice in the app or by email before they take effect; continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. The current version always lives at https://chorey.co/terms.
